Upcoming Events (5)
Date: Thursday 17 May 2012 - Friday 18 May 2012
Time: 09:00 until 16:30
Fee: R 1400 ( Students: R 850 )
Venue: Helderberg Dutch Reformed Church, Somerset West
In this two-day workshop I will discuss, illustrate and have participants practice the lively, imaginative and playful ways which the narrative metaphor offers in consulting with children. Often when we consult with children and young people we include their family members or other significant people in the therapeutic work. This makes for more complex conversations where we are often faced with dilemmas such as knowing how to honour and include all voices in the conversation and how to respond in respectful and helpful ways in the face of possible conflict and trauma. I will attend to these dilemmas by drawing from clinical experience. It is to be understood that this is a specialized workshop where the focus is on working with children and families using narrative therapy ideas. A basic knowledge and understanding of narrative therapy will be assumed.
